Vehicle Preparation Guide
Proper vehicle preparation is essential for a smooth and damage-free auto shipping experience. At Las Vegas Auto Shipping Group (AAS), we recommend following these steps before your vehicle is picked up to ensure the best possible transport.
How to Prepare Your Vehicle for Shipping

- Clean Your Vehicle Wash the exterior and clean the interior thoroughly. A clean vehicle makes it easier to document existing condition and identify any new damage after delivery.
- Remove Personal Belongings Do not leave any items inside the vehicle. Carriers are not responsible for personal items left in the car. Remove GPS devices, phone chargers, floor mats, and any loose objects.
- Check Fluid Levels Ensure the engine oil, coolant, and brake fluid are at proper levels. The gas tank should be no more than 1/4 full (about 3–5 gallons) for safety and weight reasons.
- Test Mechanical Functions Verify that the battery is fully charged, the engine starts easily, all lights (headlights, taillights, brake lights) are working, and there are no major mechanical issues.
- Tire Pressure and Condition Inflate tires to the manufacturer’s recommended pressure. Ensure tires have adequate tread and are in good condition.
- Disable Alarms and Anti-Theft Systems Turn off or disable any car alarms, LoJack, or tracking systems that could activate during transport. Provide instructions if needed.
- Document Vehicle Condition Take clear photos of all sides, the interior, dashboard, mileage, and any existing scratches, dents, or damage before pickup. This is very important for insurance purposes.
- Provide Spare Keys Include a spare set of keys. Do not leave keys inside the vehicle if it will be locked.
- For Electric and Hybrid Vehicles Ensure the battery has sufficient charge (usually around 50%) and provide any special instructions for transport.
- For Classic, Modified, or Lowered Vehicles Inform us in advance. Special handling or equipment may be required.
What Not to Do
- Do not leave the vehicle completely empty of fuel (a small amount is needed for loading/unloading).
- Avoid shipping with valuable or sentimental items inside.
- Do not wax or apply fresh coatings right before transport.
On Pickup Day
- Be available at the scheduled pickup time or provide easy access (e.g., unlocked garage).
- Have your photo ID ready and be prepared to sign the Bill of Lading.
- Walk around the vehicle with the driver to note the condition together.
Why Proper Preparation Matters
Following these steps helps prevent delays, reduces the risk of issues during transport, and ensures full insurance coverage in case of any claims.
